On January 18th, 2006 a sweet and beautiful little girl was born at 6:42 pm.  She came out with a head so full of hair that "my that's a lot of hair!" was often the first comment we heard from family, friends, and strangers alike!

Autumn's first family portrait-look at all that hair!  And that picture is proof that having a natural birth is not all that terrible-and Autumn was 8.5pounds :)

Autumn getting her first haircut at 9 months-we needed to go back to headbands for a little while after this!

When the dust settled and we had adjusted to being new parents, I realized that most of her hair accessories were rather boring.  I forget how I came across my very first korker bow, but I purchased a few for my daughter from another online vendor.  I loved how they looked on her, but was disappointed in the quality, shape, and durability.  So I set out to create the perfect korker.  And when I saw the response she got when we were out and about, the numerous requests of "where did you get that?!?" and "I NEED those for my daughter!", *Pretties* Custom Korkers was born.  We entered into the online world on May 31, 2006.  By the end of 2006 we had made over a THOUSAND *pretties*-and that was without our website or eBay, selling only on word of mouth.

*Pretties* has expanded in many ways, but stayed small in many others.  I still craft each myself from start to finish.  Each *pretties* order has a color plan written out for it, is hand rolled, heat sealed, assembled, triple reinforced, and lovingly finished and sent off.  *Pretties* are made in a 100% smoke-free environment.  We do have a kitty (Cheezer "The CHAZ") but at 18.5 (!!) years old, she's more interested in sprawling in the sunbeam than wearing *pretties* :-)

Our daughter has recently turned four and our favorite size is a pair of Tweenies in her pigtails.  It's been fun to watch her grow in terms of what size and style of *pretties* she needs!  And still every time we go out, we get stopped and asked about "those bows".

*Pretties* Custom Korkers is also passionate about giving back to those in need and advocating for those who cannot do so for themselves.  It is our goal this year to contribute to some causes we find especially worthy, including The Child Abuse Prevention Fund, the women's shelter, the Autism Society of South-East Wisconsin, and the Humane Society.  And while you are doing your part by purchasing *pretties*, we also encourage everyone to do what they can to make the world a nicer place to live! :-)

Thank you for visiting *Pretties* and if I can be of any help, please don't hesitate to contact me!  Have a blessed day!

On May 1, 2009 we welcomed into our lives a beautiful little boy, Nolan!  He's an absolute joy, the easy kind of baby every mommy wishes for, and while he's clearly a mama's boy (or so I can always tell myself...), he's also quite the ladies man with a heart-melting smile!
